An interactive studio activity to begin PT2 of BA3 Design. Introducing us to the ideas of modular housing for multiple inhabitants.

Working in teams of two, we were provided with a client and a volume which resembled one of the iconic Tetris modules.
Our task was to:
Craft a 1:50 model of our module
Reflect on our clients specific needs and present 3 key requirements for the module
Test positioning and orientation within an overall studio collaboration with other groups modules on provided site dimensions
Develop a design for the volume through sketch plans, sections and models to be presented to the rest of the studio
Client: Mx Orange Shape: 'S'

Profile:
'Stone carving artist/sculptor, who creates tall
sculptures in good natural light. Finds inspiration from
meditation and connection to the 'natural elements'.'

Thus our Three requirements are as follows:
- Quiet Location and Neighbours.
- Ground floor apartment for transporting heavy/large works and materials.
- North-East facing for even distribution of daylight into space, and morning meditation.

Reflection:
It was interesting to notice how certain clients were 'favoured' in the positioning process. The Scientists, Private couple, Sculptor and Baker were prioritised. However the Elderly couple, Fashion blogger and families were less considered. The students were regarded as a nuisance.
