Food transcends the borders of race, age, social and economic class. It is a necessity and I believe it could be a key to the unity of our urban community. The cultivation, preparation and sale of agricultural goods in an urban environment can benefit the economy, education, food security, mental and physical health, and sustainability within a community.

Urban Farming

REWE - Market of the Future, ACME

An interesting point made about the REWE Market of the future project by ACME is that urban farms tend to work well in networks spanning a specific area or town. Rather than attempting to grow a wide variety of produce in one location, each location focuses on one or two types of produce to increase its harvest and simplify cultivation. However, this may encourage monocultures, the same as agricultural crop fields, which is counterproductive to biodiversity. It's crucial to understand that biodiversity can benefit the success of crop yields as well as supporting a diverse range of wildlife.

Davidson prize 2022 'Co-Living' - Longlist Entries

Two examples from the Co-Living brief. 'Curious minds society' focuses on uniting different individuals and families to embrace and encourage community spirit through creativity. The 'Taste of Home' project unifies minority groups and provides a living and support system through the opening of a restaurant, run by the residents.
